Love your new eyewear, but they're not fitting perfectly?
Frame adjustments
The plastic from 100% recycled fishing nets gives the frames flexibility that, when heated, allows you to make minor adjustments to get the perfect fit. If you really like the look, feel and quality of our eyewear, but the frames aren't sitting quite the way you want, we have a few options for you, depending on whether they are slightly too big or too small.
The temples (arms) can be adjusted to better fit. If you heat the temples using a hairdryer, they can then be bent to suit the shape of the wearer's head. The arms will be easily bendable, then take on the new shape once cooled. To avoid overheating, start with a lower or medium heat setting and follow the video guide above.
If your pair are too big
- Add an inwards bend to "hug" the head.
- Add a downwards bend to the temple tips to grip around the ears.
If your pair are too small
- Add an outwards bend to "wrap around" the head.
- A downwards bend right on the tips to grip around the ears.
- You can also gently heat the front of the frames and, with the frame facing towards you, place both thumbs on the bridge of the nose and use your fingers to gently pull the sides towards you. This straightens the front of the frame and opens up the temples. Do not bend the arms outwards at the hinges, as this could permanently damage them.

Our mission: every pair has a direct impact
You are directly enabling the expansion of our ghost gear recovery and recycling efforts and creating a demand for plastic to be removed from the ocean.
You're also supporting the delivery of PlaNET Action, our unique education program. We deliver workshops across the UK, with our portable ocean plastic recycling machines and our marine biologist educators deployed to engage and inspire the next generation to understand the marine environment, why we should protect it, and to encourage innovative thinking.
Why ghost gear and fishing nets?
Every year at least 640,000 tonnes of fishing nets are lost or discarded in the ocean. Samples of plastic waste accumulating in our oceanic gyres reveal 46% of this plastic, by weight, is attributable to fishing gear.
Fishing related debris is particularly harmful in our oceans due to its tendency to entangle marine life and damage seabed habitats, such as kelp beds and coral reefs. In a phenomenon known as "ghost fishing", the entangled carcasses of trapped marine life attract more species, resulting in further potential entanglements.
As these discarded nets are produced from plastic, they will not degrade, persisting in the ocean to catch and kill marine life indefinitely. Turning the problem on its head, all of the properties which make discarded fishing gear such a problem (its abundance, its strength and durability, and its propensity to harm) combine to make it both an excellent resource as a material and a priority target to intercept from the ocean.
Lifetime warranty
We firmly believe the extended producer responsibility model is an essential step for industry to take to address plastic pollution. We want to fully account for every single piece of recycled plastic that Waterhaul produces. Whilst we only redesign plastic waste into products built to last, our mission for any products which do reach the end of their lifecycle is to achieve a 100% recycling rate. A circular economy.
Our lifetime warranty delivers on this. By offering you an incentive, we aim to capture every broken or unwanted pair of frames. Simply return your eyewear to us and we will repair or replace the frames free of charge*. The beauty of our closed-loop production process means we can guarantee that every pair of sunglasses returned will be recycled. Just like a fishing net intercepted from the ocean, returned frames are washed, sorted, shredded and repurposed into a new pair, ready for new adventures.
*Our lifetime warranty applies to your frames only. To replace damaged lenses, we charge a cost price fee for the lens replacement and postage back to you.
To submit a warranty claim, please quote your original order number and fill out the form here.

Prescription orders
Ordered a frame only? We have a couple of options for getting your frames fitted with the lenses you want:
- Return your frames to us and re-order prescription glasses or sunglasses. You can return your frames for a refund, then re-order that same style with your prescription directly through the website. Fill out a free Royal Mail returns label here.
- Or keep your frames and have a local optician fit the lenses (recommended for bifocal and varifocal prescriptions).
