In partnership with the World Cetacean Alliance, discover how ghost gear recovered from a whale rescue has inspired a range of limited edition items where proceeds go back into whale and dolphin conservation.
Now live: Discover the Rescue to Recycle storyWHAT IS GHOST GEAR?
Lost or discarded fishing gear AKA 'ghost gear' is the most abundant form of macro-plastic in the ocean, and the problem increases by 640,000 tonnes every year.
These nets are also the most lethal form of plastic to marine life. Lost in the ocean, their function to entangle marine life continues. Constructed from high-quality plastics, these nets keep on catching for over 500 years, unless removed.
OUR PROCESS
1
Recover
Collected from across the coastline of Cornwall. We're also developing schemes to assist preventing gear loss at the source, alongside a port based pilot scheme in Pembrokeshire.
2
Recycle
Gear is separated by polymer type, and then recycled through a mechanical process of shredding and washing. The plastic is then extruded into pellets and becomes our raw material.
3
Redesign
With our 100% recycled raw material, we injection mould this plastic into purposeful products. This is the stage where we give new value to plastic 'waste'.
EYEWEAR FOR OCEAN ADVENTURES
We utilise the strongest form of plastic in our oceans to produce exceptionally sustainable, recycled eyewear.
Eyewear that can meet the technical demands of adventure, ocean-exposure and UV protection, as well as acting as ‘symbols of change’ for our oceans.
Every pair of Waterhaul frames comes with a lifetime warranty, because they are made from nets that would last decades in the ocean.

INSPIRING THE NEXT
GENERATION
PlaNET Action is our one-of-a-kind educational outreach program. We deliver workshops across the UK. Utilising our portable ocean plastic recycling machines and our marine biologist educators, the programme engages and inspires the next-generation to understand the marine environment, why we should protect it, and to encourage innovative thinking.
