The Mission
We've teamed up with SeaTrees to help restore Mangrove Ecosystems in Indonesia.
SeaTrees protect and restore coastal ecosystems and support local communities across the world. Operating in coastal communities in countries such as Kenya, Indonesia and Mexico, SeaTrees are making positive impacts in the environments that need help the most. These coastal environments are rich in what's called "Blue Carbon"; Carbon stored in Marine and Coastal Ecosystems.
SeaTrees have been working with Eden Reforestation projects to restore the once decimated Mangrove Forests in the Biak Island Region in Indonesia, and are set to have planted 700,000 Mangrove Trees by the end of the year.
KYNANCE
BLUE CARBON
LIMITED EDITION
In this collaboration, our Kynance sunglasses have been reimagined with a matte blue/grey finish, inspired SeaTree's Blue Carbon initiative. These Limited Edition frames are made from recycled nylon fishing nets, and are paired with polarised mineral glass lenses, offering complete sustainability and ultimate UVA/UVB 400 protection. The unisex circular frame suits most small to medium face sizes.
EACH PURCHASE PLANTS 5 MANGROVE TREES IN THE BUAK ISLAND REIGON, INDONESIA
With each purchase of our Limited Edition Blue Carbon sunglasses, we'll be funding SeaTree's mangrove conservation efforts in Indonesia.
- Mangrove trees help create critical habitats for threatened marine life, and protect the islands from storm surges and rising sea levels.
- Mangrove Forests are 5x as efficient at storing carbon from our atmosphere than Tropical Rainforests.
- Every mangrove tree planted creates employment for local community members, provides resources for local education, and supports local families.

MINERAL GLASS, NOT PLASTIC.
We're supplied by Barberini, regarded as the producer of the world's best optical quality lenses - famous for producing opticals for the likes as Maui Jim.
We use glass lenses, over cheaper plastic lenses for three key reasons:
Optical Quality - Mineral glass has by far the greatest optical clarity of all lens materials, with an Abbe value of 59 (vs. 32 for polycarbonate).
Sustainability - Recycled plastic lenses do not exist. Glass is infinitely recyclable, and doesn't produce microplastics when cut to shape.
Scratch Resistance - Our sunglasses are designed for the beach, which means sand - the enemy of most sunglasses. Our chemically hardened polarised glass is substantially more scratch resistant than other lenses, and exceeds all international impact resistance tests.

EVERY PAIR HAS A DIRECT IMPACT
You are directly enabling the expansion of our ghost gear recovery and recycling efforts and creating a demand for plastic to be removed from the ocean.
You'll also be supporting the delivery of PlaNET Action, our unique education program. We deliver workshops across the UK, with our portable ocean plastic recycling machines and our marine biologist educators deployed to engage and inspire the next-generation to understand the marine environment, why we should protect it, and to encourage innovative thinking.
Why support this cause?

Preventing erosion and providing marine habitat.
Mangrove forests create critical habitats for threatened marine species, whilst also protecting the island from storm surges and rising sea-levels.

Sustainable Development.
This project provides long-term employment for the local community. This in turn drives other sustainable development benefits produced by the project.

Breathe Easy.
Mangrove trees sequester carbon in one of the most efficient ways possible. In fact, mangrove forests are 5x more effective at storing carbon than tropical forests.
