How to care for your sunglasses

Our folding cork cases are a great way to protect your sunglasses when they're not in use.

Our eyewear has been designed with surfers, sailors and all beachgoers in mind. With extra durable frames made from recycled plastic fishing nets, to Barberini mineral glass lenses, your pair of Waterhaul sunglasses should last you many years to come (we still regularly use some of our first prototypes from over four years ago!).

That being said, we do have some top tips to help prolong the life of your favourite sunglasses even further, read on below!

1. CASES

Our cases are plastic-free, making them a sustainable eyewear storage solution.

Our cork glasses cases are ideal for storing your glasses out of harm’s way while they’re not in use, and their unique folding design makes the cases easy to slip into your pocket or beach bag while you’re wearing your glasses!

We designed these cases with sustainability in mind, opting for cork over materials like plastic, which provides protection against drops and crushes, while allowing the case to easily fold away while not in use. Inside the cases is a cotton lining, and we use a magnetic clasp to seal them, making them 100% plastic free and eco-friendly!

2. PROTECT THE LENSES

Our Mineral Glass+ lenses are chemically hardened to be more scratch resistant than any plastic sunglasses lens.

Our Mineral Glass+ lenses are scratch resistant, however you should always avoid placing your glasses lens-down on any hard or abrasive surfaces like rocks or countertops, to preserve the glass even further.

3. CLEANING

A clean cloth is perfect for removing dust, sand and other marks from your sunglasses.

Salt water can damage the protective coatings on the lenses over time, as well as the metal hinges that attach the arms to the frames, so after a day on (or in) the water, rinse your sunglasses thoroughly with fresh warm water and some mild liquid dish soap to remove any residue. Avoid using abrasive cleaners like glass cleaner, soaps or detergents on your lenses, as these can leave a film and damage the protective lens coatings.

In addition to this, regularly clean your lenses with a clean cloth to remove debris like sand or dust from scratching your lenses and leaving visible marks.
